BREAKING: Facebook rebrands, changes name to Meta

Social media giant, Facebook, has changed its name to Meta, latest update from the company’s leadership reveals.

The name “Facebook” will no longer define the future of the Mark Zuckerberg-led company.

Tech entrepreneur and billionaire, Mark Zuckerberg, made the announcement of the new name during a virtual keynote for the company’s Facebook Connect conference.

The name changing comes in a bid, by the company, to separate its products that have continued to grow in quantum proportion.

According to Mark Zuckerberg, the company seeks to identify as a “metaverse-first, not Facebook first.”

He said: “Our brand is so tightly linked to one product that it can’t possibly represent everything that we’re doing today, let alone in the future. From now on, we’re going to be metaverse-first, not Facebook first.”

The restructuring comes in a similar fashion as that of Google when it restructured itself into Alphabet as the new holding company that now operates Google.
