The Olabisi Onabanjo University Students Union representatives between 2010-2015 converge over the last weekend for its maiden reunion tagged Back To Root. It was the first of its kind in the university environment.
The reunion/Luncheon involves students who have represented the students in every capacity during their undergraduate days.
The much anticipated Reunion “BACK2ROOT” initiated so many joys of coming back together to effectively assist, connect or network and give back to the Alma Mata which will be of great importance to all and sundry.
The event kicked off from the Olabisi Onabanjo University Mini Campus where the members of the committee ably lead by Conrade Ezekiel Adeniji received all participants for the Reunion.
Thereafter, all participants moved em-masse to the university Permanent Site (main Campus) where a series of activities: Radio Interview at OOU FM, interactive session with the students & School management and a fun-filled gyration at the OOU Kegite club Ilya Meliki Shrine.
However, after series of event carried out at the Permanent Site, all participants moved to the Elite Hall where the Luncheon Party was held. The event was filled with several former students who are now doing great in the society.
It was a joyous moment as many are seeing again after several years of leaving the university campus. During the visit to the Vice Chancellor Office, Professor Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde he was so happy to receive the old student student representative and Like-minds.
The attendance includes former Student Union President for 2009/2010 Rufai Uthman, which is popularly known as Beeko, Omojola Ayokunle Omojay 2011/2012, Ifade Socialist 2012/2013, Adegbesan Adenola Malcomzy 2015. Former faculty and department presidents and many more others who have contributed to the university activism and unionism during their days on campus.
The success of the reunion was as a result of the effective planning orchestrated by the planning committee under the chairmanship of Adeniji Ezekiel O’Seun, Olakunle Badmus (Vice Chairman), Ajayi Esther (Secretary), Dada Ayodeji (P. R. O), Adeyeye Abiodun (Treasurer), Babatunde Joshua Fayeun (Event Planner), Adesina Kasali. (Event/Content Manager), Otunba Tiwalade Gabriel (Logistic Officer).
Encomium was showered on everyone for making the OOU-Like minds Reunion 2021 a great success with over 100s participants and guests who came back to the campus on Friday 19th November 2021 to rediscover what made Olabisi Onabanjo University the Jerusalem and to renew their lifelong connection to this special place. It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with friends and classmates.
Participants enjoyed tours of their old department, Fun-filled moments with a chance to visit some of the latest additions to campus, such as the new OOU senate building. More time to reminisce about the old days with friends and classmates, some who hadn’t met in not less than 7years also comrades meeting the current students Leaders and school management.
