In line with her mission of advocating peace culture amongst young people through education, Muse Peace Foundation reached out to schools in Osogbo, Osun State in furtherance to her annual peace education program tagged “EduCreative”.
Coined from the two words: Education and Creativity, ‘Educreative’ program serves as an atmosphere for constructive dialogue, capacity building, and peace talks among young individuals. It is geared toward promoting a peace culture among students, stimulating their reading abilities and encouraging them to embrace peace and tranquility in the quest for a better society, we all crave.
The program which was held in Salvation Army Government School and First Class International College on the 2nd and 3rd of November, respectively, had over 350 pupils in attendance. While speaking to the students, the importance of peacebuilding, community development and social inclusion were reiterated and they were made to understand that as future leaders, they must always exemplify the core values of peace.
While addressing the students, the Project Coordinator, Miss Adepoju Seyi Bright stated that the program’s primacy is to enable students to become responsible citizens equipped with the right mindset to deconstruct the foundations of violence and take collective action to advance the prospects of peace.
In a bid to encourage academic excellence among participants and advance the mission of the organization within the schools visited, the students were gifted notebooks and other writing materials, to improve their reading culture and creativity even while they give themselves to learning.
As part of the organization’s goal to promote a peace culture, EduCreative was birthed out of the realization that young people must be taught right to ensure the construction of a better and saner society.
